2022 TECNZ Achievement Awards Winners Announced

10 August 2022 – Three of New Zealand’s top tourism international businesses and two industry leaders have been recognised as the best in the business. This year the Achievement Awards are a one-off set of awards.

Prior to 2020, the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand (TECNZ) previously had tourism awards nominated by its membership for Inbound Operator of the Year, Allied Operator of the Year, Best Small Business of the Year and two Young TEC awards.

The Board believed trying to celebrate excellence while businesses were (and still are) in survival mode did not set a scene for easy comparison. Inbound Tour Operators (ITOs) had zero opportunity to generate revenue and most other businesses were operating on 20-30% of pre-COVID revenue.

For this reason, the Board chose to look at an Awards program that recognized a different type of positive contribution with Achievement Awards.

The purpose of the 2022 Achievement Awards was to recognise tourism businesses and individuals who have endured the challenges over the past two years and demonstrated exceptional community spirit, new approaches with sustainability initiatives and someone who has supported their local industry during the pandemic.

Three company and two individual award categories were developed. Thirty-one (31) entries were received. Fourteen (14) finalists were selected by the Board and then industry peers voted for winning entries.

  • New Community/Charity Initiative Finalists:
    • EcoZip Adventures, Waiheke Island
    • Kohutapu Lodge and Tribal Tours, Murupara
    • Wheelie Fantastic, Mapua
    • WINNER: EcoZip Adventures, Waiheke Island
  • New Sustainability Initiative Finalists:

  • Emerging Tourism Leader Finalists:
    • Eleri Williams, Haka Tour Group, Auckland
    • Grace Mitchell, Active Adventures, Queenstown
    • WINNER: Zac Watson, Maverick Digital Tourism Marketing

Chief Executive of the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand Lynda Keene said, “All entries deserve recognition of the contribution made to their communities over the past two and half years. The judging process to find Finalists was difficult due to the high calibre of entries. There were some truly outstanding entries.”

“Congratulations to all Finalists and Winners. The stand-out winners have excelled in positive changes and contribution to tourism and the community since March 2020.”

Background on winning entries of the 2022 TECNZ Achievement Awards were:

New Community Charity Initiative
EcoZip Adventures, Waiheke Island

Prior to the borders closing in 2020, EcoZip Adventures was welcoming approximately 25,000 visitors p.a. to their Waiheke site. Of this, 70% were international visitors and ranged, in age, from five to 95. Primary markets were western, with our visitor profile being dominated by Australia, North America and Northern Europe. Efforts to engage with, and grow, the eastern markets had started to bear fruit and by 2018-2019 countries from within this wider market, notably China and Korea, had started to regularly appear in our top-demographics reporting.

EcoZip from its inception supported local charitable initiatives, often donating product as raffle prizes and, occasionally, with cash donations. In 2017 they supported the Graham Dingle Foundation and Variety.

Since March 2020, EcoZip Adventures engaged in three primary community and charity initiatives:

  1. Financial support for Waiheke Resources Trust and their Love Our Wetlands programme, which aims to restore 5 wetland sites around the island.
  2. A ‘Locals’ Day’ initiative, encouraging the Waiheke community to zip at low cost and with all the resulting revenue being distributed to 3 island-based charities
  3. A Big Buddy fundraiser initiative, using marginal, mid-week inventory to both raise funds for the charity and provide a brilliant day out for the organisation’s Big and Little Buddies.

Not only have these initiatives been good for the community and the environment, they were also good for our team’s morale and wellbeing. This has been important during these challenging times.

New Sustainability Initiative
Ziptrek Ecotours New Zealand

Ziptrek Ecotours is Queenstown’s first carbon-neutral tourism business – a multi-award-winning adventure ecotourism business renowned for delivering awareness and appreciation of the natural environment along with a healthy dose of ziplining adventure.

Situated on Queenstown’s iconic Bob’s Peak, guests can choose from one of four guided tour options. Sustainability is at the core of what we do at Ziptrek Ecotours. The business exists to educate guests about sustainability whilst facilitating an engaging activity in a beautiful environment. Since opening in 2009, Ziptrek Ecotours strongly pushed their sustainable and regenerative ethos to our stakeholders – whether that be staff, customers, suppliers or our local community.

Pre-covid, Ziptrek was averaging 600pax per week (the majority international guests). Post-covid, that number dropped to 150pax per week, a reduction of 60-70%.

Since COVID, their efforts and commitment to becoming leaders in this field and encouraging peers to follow suit has multiplied. In one of our most recent educational initiatives, Ziptrek developed a 6-part ‘Let’s Talk About Carbon‘ video series which aims to demystify the process of carbon reduction and offsetting for businesses and individuals.

Innovation for Visitor Experience
Fiordland Trips & Tramps

A family-owned business by Steve and Kate Norris with over 30 years’ experience in guiding small group tours to Milford Sound, on the Great Walks and in the wider Fiordland area. They are both passionate about sharing Fiordland, supporting the community, and working for conservation.

In February 2020 a catastrophic rain event in Fiordland and Southland resulted in significant disruption to travel and access to Milford Sound and the Milford and Routeburn Tracks. By this stage the writing was on the wall regarding the new Corona virus, and along with the rest of the tourism industry Trips & Tramps experienced a complete loss of business when the borders closed, and NZ went into lockdown.

Before COVID Trips & Tramps employed approximately 12 staff. Their visitor profile was 99% made up of international visitors. Most tickets were sold through ITOs and OTAs, with 25% being direct bookings. The business had to adapt to survive and quickly due to only having NZ visitors. This was done by focusing on the Fiordland Great Walk Package – 3 walks in 3 days. The package included a Kepler Heli Hike, Milford Track & Cruise, Routeburn Track guided walk. It appealed to those who liked to walk but not stay in a hut, those who hadn’t done much hiking and like the security of having a guide and have every detail catered for.

The package incorporated many local businesses as includes helicopters, hotels, water taxis/cruises, local cafes etc. The flow-on effect of the package reached further to local retail shops, supermarkets, other accommodation and activity providers, and restaurants and cafes, and support services in Te Anau as people stayed in Te Anau for at least 4 nights and made the areas the focal point of their holiday.

Fiordland Trips and Tramps new package offered a much better experience of Fiordland than they Sales helped support the community and it was heartening to hear fellow Kiwis say 100% would recommend us to friend or fellow traveller.

Good Sort / Unsung Hero
Ben Thornton – Bush and Beach

Ben’s Story: Two years ago, all businesses were told to pivot (a word many of us came to detest). We were told to “look to our balance sheets” and that we needed to get used to our business never being the same again.

Ben Thornton, and Bush and Beach do all that and much more. Rejected for the government support handed out to the select few operators that the government deemed worth of survival, and without fanfare, Ben took a formerly highly successful, 38-year-old, tour business and quietly repositioned it for survival.

Having assets in terms of both people and vehicles, he redeployed both in the service of a charity helping women and children who found themselves in dire straits and often the victims of family violence.

While we have heard of job-shares, Ben innovatively developed the idea of a person-share, finding ways to ensure that his key staff remained connected to the business yet able to be paid for the full working week that, with no customers whatsoever, it was impossible for him to provide.

Though Ben wouldn’t admit it, he topped up plenty of wage packets even when we didn’t have the funds to do so. At the same time, and without complaint, he continued to fund and resource Bush and Beach’s commitment to a pest eradication programme in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park – because rats and possums don’t take time off for a pandemic.

Ben has also given his time to the service of his peers and colleagues. Sitting on committees, attending innumerable workshops and webinars, and advocating passionately for the industry, and people, to whom he has a profound commitment.

YoungTEC Emerging Leader
Zac Watson, Maverick Digital Tourism Marketing

Over the past 2 years, Zac Watson has emerged as one of the New Zealand Tourism Industry’s most promising leaders. In a difficult time for all with the global pandemic, border closures and business unsettlement, Zac was able to provide leadership to those most directly affected, whilst adding value to the industry through his core employment positions.

Zac was elected chairperson of the Young Tourism Export Council (YoungTEC) in 2020 and re-elected in 2021. Membership organisations were acutely affected by the pandemic, with budget restrictions & member losses meaning providing value became of utmost importance, albeit with fewer resources than ever. Despite this, Zac lead the association’s board to pivot into a new way of thinking and executing, even adding to the annual events (outlined below) with a reworked core focus of connection for members. His influence on those under the age of 36 years of age, working in tourism, has largely contributed to those within the workforce choosing to stay within tourism.

  • Biweekly group virtual check ins with members randomly drawn and rotated from the nationwide database. This provided a secure place to brainstorm, but also meant members connected with those outside of their own immediate region.
  • A new partnership with New Zealand Māori Tourism (NZMT) which enabled capability building for members in Te Reo and Te Ao Māori.
  • A new membership structure, meaning that those displaced had a connection with the association and industry with the introduction of a social membership.
  • A total budget overhaul, YoungTEC had no income overnight.

Zac never fails to give back to those wanting to enter the tourism industry. He is a regular speaker at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT), NZ School of Tourism (NZST) and International Travel College (ITC) where he has also sat on their advisory board for 3 years. Providing leadership in ensuring the qualification content is focused on real world industry issues and topics is something Zac is passionate about and does his upmost to make reality.

Finally, within his workplace, Zac champions leadership within the tourism industry. Throughout his time at Tataki Auckland Unlimited, Auckland’s RTO, he took a voluntary secondment to aid the delivery of the Tourism Transition Fund (TTF) leading a team of 4 advisors to ensure that $3.2 million was distributed to severely affected tourism businesses within the Auckland region within a tight timeline on behalf of central government. At Maverick Digital, his current employer, Zac is leading numerous initiatives to better connect and add value to the industry in the digital space, ensuring that operators are upskilled and able to full capitalise on a returning visitor economy.

International Tourism Industry Getting Ready to Go

9 August 2022 – The Tourism Export Council of New Zealand annual conference with 260 delegates is delighted to be back in the Nelson Tasman region this week to discuss all things relating to international tourism and its future.

Chief Executive of the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand Lynda Keene said, “Tourism has faced significant challenges over the past two and half years due to (COVID-19) and the conference provides an important opportunity to look ahead for the start of NZ’s international tourism recovery.”

“No region or business has been immune to the impact of having no international visitors. Tough is an understatement. The last twelve months have hurt, a lot. Many businesses have only just survived. It is a testament to business owners fortitude that they have hung in at great personal cost to keep staff employed and be ready to welcome back visitors. Although the border is now open, there is still a long way to go for businesses to see a path forward with their recovery and get their books back in the black. Most will not make a surplus this year as they are starting the season in the red.”

A newly developed component TECNZ initiated last year called the Tourism Trade Expo will again feature at this year’s event. The purpose of the trade event is to provide a platform for tourism businesses to update Inbound Tour Operators (ITOs) on changes to their visitor experiences and products. Many businesses have adapted their visitor offering for the domestic market and some new products will be suitable for international travellers when they return.

Speakers include Hon Stuart Nash Minister of Tourism, Mayor Rachel Reese, René de Monchy CEO of Tourism New Zealand, Kylie Archer, Chief Operating Officer of World Trade Expo 2020 (Dubai), Economist Cameron Bagrie, Richard Ussher (Olympian, Multi-day Adventure Athlete and tourism operator) and the keynote speaker, Nelson’s Liam Malone, Paralympian, businessman and motivational speaker.

Delegates will also hear how international tourism is rebounding from major inbound tourism leaders in the UK, Europe, Ireland and Australia. An international panel on Day 2 of conference will also provide insights to trends from major source markets and opportunities for New Zealand’s international tourism recovery.

Tourism industry influencers rediscovering Nelson Tasman

5 August 2022 – Nelson Tasman’s profile as an international destination will be in the spotlight this week as New Zealand’s tourism experts and key influencers (inbound tour operators that book international visitors) come to the Nelson Tasman to explore the regions visitor attractions and tourism offering.

The Tourism Export Council of New Zealand (TECNZ) sold out annual conference (280 delegates) will return to the region since our last conference in 2005. Chief Executive Lynda Keene says the industry is looking forward to seeing the development that has taken place.

“Hosting the TECNZ Tourism Conference here in Nelson Tasman provides an excellent opportunity for the industry to reconnect, refresh and reset, and rediscover all that the region has to offer. Tourism has faced significant challenges over the past two and half years due to COVID-19 and the conference provides an important opportunity to look ahead for NZ’s international tourism recovery.”

“A newly developed component TECNZ initiated last year called the Tourism Trade Expo will again feature at this year’s event. Many businesses have adapted their visitor offering for the domestic market and some new products will be suitable for international travellers when they return.”

“We’re excited to host conference delegates and showcase the breadth of what we have on offer with the pre-arranged local tourism visits. Nelson Tasman’s range of outdoor adventure and activities amongst our stunning landscapes will be highlighted through activities such as kayaking, sailing, and skydiving, as well as profiling our thriving local food producers like Pics peanut butter and the Moutere Hills wineries ,” says Nelson Regional Development Agency (NRDA) Chief Executive Fiona Wilson.

Speakers include Hon Stuart Nash Minister of Tourism, Mayor Rachel Reese, René de Monchy CEO of Tourism New Zealand, Kylie Archer, Chief Operating Officer of World Trade Expo 2020 (Dubai), Economist Cameron Bagrie, Richard Ussher (Olympian, Multi-day Adventure Athlete and tourism operator) and the keynote speaker, Nelson’s Liam Malone, Paralympian, businessman and motivational speaker.

Delegates will also hear how international tourism is rebounding from major business leaders in the UK, Europe, Ireland and Australia. An international panel on Day 2 of conference will also provide insights to trends from major source markets and opportunities for New Zealand’s international tourism recovery.

The conference will be held in Nelson from 9 August until 12 August 2022 at the Rutherford Hotel. Local tourism product familiarisations will be held prior to and after the event.

13 June 2022
The inbound prospects and outlook for the 22-23 international visitor season has changed over the past two months, for the positive… Previously when NZ still had a 7-day self-isolation requirement, pre-departure and arrival testing for all international visitors, there was a lot of frustration by offshore travel sellers to sell and book NZ and we were concerned about the start of our recovery. Bookings were slow. The self-isolation requirement was a major barrier.

When that requirement was removed (March 2022), inbound tour operators saw an array of bookings start to come through which was an encouraging sign. There is still some hesitancy for offshore sellers to sell NZ with confidence until pre-departure testing is removed. This has affected a number of bookings that were in the system for Q4 cancel bookings, particularly out of Australia. Whether these bookings will return to NZ in the 22-23 season is yet to be seen.

Many travellers including Kiwis are finding pre-departure testing and the traveller declaration form extremely frustrating and stressful in the 24-hour period prior to departure. We hope to hear from government shortly that these requirements will be removed, earlier than the proposed 31 July date. When this happens, we expect to see a flurry of bookings come through that have a higher level of confidence to materialize…and then we can start to approach the future with more confidence.

TECNZ is currently forecasting a 55-60% return of pre-COVID visitor arrivals and spend by YE May 2023. If we can achieve that without Chinese airlines flying in the Oct-Dec 2022 period, it will be a solid start to NZ’s international tourism recovery and rebuild. We anticipate the 22-23 season will be a game of two halves. The Oct-Dec 2022 period will have a higher weighting of independent travellers (VFR and leisure) than group travel. Business event travel is looking steady for Q4 of this year. We expect more visitors from Australia, US, Canada, UK and European markets than Asian markets although we anticipate travel from Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan will start later in the year.

The second half of the season Jan-Apr 2023 will see a stronger level of group tours return that will complement FIT travel. We’ll see a larger pick-up out of the UK and Europe market in Q1 of 2023 and higher level of return of visitors from Asia-Pacific. The UK and European markets have been the most concerned about NZ not giving enough notice and removing travel barriers. We’re not sure yet when China will reopen for travel partly influenced by government policy and airline connectivity. We hope to see the China market return mid-late 2023.

Inbound bookings in the system for the 23-24 are looking good and there’s a higher level of optimism and confidence from all markets for that season vs the 22-23 season which will be a bit of a watch and see as to what unfolds. TECNZ forecasts a return of potentially 82-85% pre-COVID arrivals by May 2024 and close to 95% return of pre-COVID arrivals by May 2025. Time will tell as to whether our crystal ball is on point, too optimistic…or a bit foggy.

Our pick for star performer for the season will be Australia and the US markets. A couple of trends we are seeing include longer stays, higher spend and heightened interest in health and safety and sustainable business practices across operations. The role of travellers using outbound travel agents to connect with NZ inbound tour operators to have someone looking after their ‘duty of care’ while travelling continues to grow. This is a good sign for the ongoing future of ITOs and the work they do on behalf of the industry for a safe and well-managed rebuild of NZ’s international tourism offering.

19 May 2022

The Tourism Export Council of New Zealand was not expecting any funding support in the 2022 Budget after asking Minister Nash for support in February 2022 (because it was urgently needed by businesses) and receiving a letter in May saying there was no intention to provide any further funding for inbound tour operators that are the conduit between NZ businesses and offshore travel partners. We assumed this also meant other industry operators weren’t getting any further funding either.

When we saw $54.2m scroll across the TV screen for the tourism sector, we were delightfully surprised. Then we saw the word ‘innovation’ and slumped a bit. Why? Because international tourism businesses are still in survival mode and looking to innovate is a nice to have, not a priority when you have families and staff trying to put food on the table and cover their family and business bills.

The industry needs sector survival funding not sector innovation funding.

Realising the $54.2m has come about from unspent STAPP funding (2020) and Tourism Communities recovery package funding (2021) was also surprising. In February 2022 TECNZ had already asked MBIE and the Minister for any unspent funds from these two initiatives (in 2021) to be reallocated to where the real need is. TECNZ submitted a business case showing where the need was on a per segment basis (from an industry survey) to highlight where the any new investment would best produce a return on investment for government’s previous investment in 2020 and 2021. Based on receipt of the Minister’s letter say no further funding was available and finding out there has been funds is a little perplexing. Our sector is still under immense stress and the anxiety business owners have had to endure would greatly have been alleviated if this funding was available earlier.

The fact there’s no detail on how the funds will be distributed and what the criteria is to apply for the new fund is frustrating. We are not sure if the businesses that really need funding support will meet the criteria, we really hope so. There is a concern due to the high focus in the following areas:

  • Climate: reduce carbon emissions in the tourism sector or have a positive impact on the climate. Comment: the industry has always had a strong focus on environmentally sustainability and climate change over decades since Green Globe 21 was introduced in the 1990s, then Earthcheck in 2000s and over 1200 businesses have already signed up to the UN Sustainability Development Goals. Climate and sustainability is not a new thing for tourism. Can we improve? Always.
  • Sustainability: increase the resilience or environmental sustainability of tourism. Comment: Any tourism business that has managed to survive, still operate and be a positive contributor to their community deserves some support. Other comments on environment noted above.
  • Technology: lift productivity or capability of the tourism sector through technology-based solutions. Comment: Many of our businesses implemented new technologies over past decades and use AR, VR, IR and all the Rs. Can we improve and be even more innovative? Yes, always.

Over the past two years businesses have had a chance to think about their futures, and in time, will look at implementing new products and experiences. However, businesses need practical funding support now so they can recruit staff and get out of first gear, become operational and be ready to welcome back visitors. We very much hope the international tourism businesses who have already proven their resilience to stay operating after two years with either zero or only 20-30% of pre-COVID revenue have proven they deserve a helping hand with this latest fund.

We must focus on the most practical form of investment to ensure there is a quality international tourism offering in the future. If some businesses can’t get support from the latest fund, New Zealand’s global reputation will continue to be at risk if we can’t recruit staff and plan with confidence and meet brand NZ visitor expectations. The demand is there. Business owners will do their best.

The best way for the government to support the rebuild of NZ’s international tourism offering is to listen to the specialists (TECNZ) who have been bringing visitors to NZ for 50 years, successfully growing it to be NZ’s No. 1 export industry before COVID-19 struck. We urge government to listen and act on specialist advice to maximise their ROI over the past two years which has been appreciated. We’d like to work in partnership and be part of the conversation going forward.

TECNZ supports other tourism funding initiatives also detailed in yesterday’s budget particularly Department of Conservation funding.

inside bar indicator

Some online trading platforms even offer indicator tools to help identify inside bars on a chart, making it easy to discover and take advantage of strong trade opportunities. In order to understand the working of the outside bar indicator we first need to understand the outside bar pattern. Just like in the inside bar candlestick pattern the outside bar is formed when the previous candle totally engulfs the latest candle https://trading-market.org/ in front of it. Here’s another example of trading an inside bar against the recent trend / momentum and from a key chart level. In this case, we were trading an inside bar reversal signal from a key level of resistance. Also, note that the inside bar sell signal in the example below actually had two bars within the same mother bar, this is perfectly fine and is something you will see sometimes on the charts.

As a matter of fact, the trade will be taken once the third candle is over. The prior bar, the bar before the inside bar, is often referred to as the “mother bar”. You will sometimes see an inside bar referred to as an “ib” and its mother bar referred to as an “mb”.

False Breakout Trading Strategy

Inside Bar highlights a group of bars between the High and Low of the first bar in the series. The tolerance parameter allows to set the acceptable deviation of the candle body from the high/low. Please note, that testimonials appearing on this website may not be representative of other clients or customers and is not a guarantee of future performance or success.

When an inside bar develops, it signals consolidation that could preview a breakout coming in the near future. But to capitalize on this breakout potential, you need to identify whether the breakout is likely to result in price appreciation or depreciation. One way to think of an inside bar is to compare it to a volcano, where pressure is building underneath before an eruption. For traders, an inside bar can signal a price breakout coming in the near future, which creates a profit opportunity, whether you’re buying or shorting the asset.

Sell Signal

The “ATR Pivots” script is a technical analysis tool designed to help traders identify key levels of support and resistance on a chart. As with any chart pattern, though, inside bar trading isn’t perfect. It isn’t reliable when applied to shorter time frames, which can make it less effective for day trading and intraday trading.

The first candle of the pattern is usually large, called the mother candle, while the next candle is a small candle having low wicks, and is called the baby candle. In another case, when the mother bar does not appear, it’s also called the abandoned baby candle pattern. Identify the inside bar candlestick pattern at the break of the resistance zone using the indicator and wait for the breakout of the low of the inside candlestick. Then open a sell trade and place stop-loss a few pips above the swing high. Inside bars are a great tool for identifying potential price breakouts on forex and other assets.

KT Renko Patterns EA

In technical analysis, when market makers try to make big decisions, an inside bar candlestick pattern forms on the chart. It is a symbol of indecision in the market and shows the upcoming trend reversal. The Inside Bar Indicator is a Reversal Indicator that spots a time of market consolidation. An inside bar pattern on a daily chart will appear as a “triangle.” They frequently develop after a market makes a significant move when it “pauses” to consolidate before moving on.

I don’t recommend fancy indicators to traders, but I recommend indicators based on price action. Because indicators can also save a lot of time, you can’t sit in front of the screen looking for an inside bar candlestick pattern. However, it will be good if an indicator alerts you once an inside bar pattern forms, and then you can check yourself to make a perfect decision. A daily chart inside bar will look like a ‘triangle’ on a 1 hour or 30 minute chart time frame. They often form following a strong move in a market, as it ‘pauses’ to consolidate before making its next move.

inside bar indicator

Some traders consider a bar an inside bar if the High and Low are equal to the previous bar or note where there are several consecutive bars that are within a range of a previous bar. The Inside Bar ShowMe Study will not mark bars that meet either of these conditions. However, do not trade inside bars simply because they represent low-risk entries. Taking low but unnecessary risks over the long run is not profitable.

Trading Rules – MACD with Inside Bar

The second indicator shows you an image as a box of inside bars, or one inside bar and how it formed inside the previous bar. An example inside bar in both bar and candlestick form is below showing the lower high and higher low than the previous bar. Please check out our NinjaTrader 8 indicators to find ones that fit your needs. On NinjaTrader 8, you even have access to our PRIORITY SUPPORT directly from charts.

Is an inside bar bullish or bearish?

In this case, the bearish candle (mother bar) represents a broader downtrend, while the bullish candle (inside bar) represents consolidation after the large decline.

This pattern can be used to identify key levels of support and resistance for a currency pair, and can also be used as a potential signal for a future price breakout. The indicator which we use on mt4 to detect the outside bar candlestick patterns is called the outside bar indicator for mt4. We all know it’s one thing to read and learn about candlestick patterns.

  • In this case, the right inside bar trading move would be to open a position on November 9, while the price is still within the range set by the inside bar.
  • When the size difference is slight, the strength of that indicator is reduced.
  • Note the strong push higher that unfolded following this inside bar setup.
  • As you can see, when the inside bar pattern appears, the RSI stands at around 40-45, a level indicating indecision and the market and, thus, the likelihood of consolidation.

Inside & Outside patterns bars are often formed after a strong market movement, after which the market enters a state of consolidation or price movement uncertainty. Based on the analysis of patterns, the indicator can determine the likely further direction of the trend reversal / continuation. To help identify the direction in which the price might break out, always consult the day bar trend as well as Fibonacci retracement and other applicable chart patterns and technical indicators.

Many analysts view inside bars as an indication of declining market activity, possibly as a prelude to a large movement in either direction. Futures, foreign currency and options trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment.

Once the InsideBars have been searched, it is further possible to switch between timeframes, but on which the InsideBars from the selected timeframe are still marked (see below). One of our favorite volume indicators, the VWAP Superior inside bar indicator indicator, provides a more thorough analysis. You can also use it in conjunction with one of our momentum indicators, such as the Ichimoku Cloud Superior indicator, to get a more precise estimate of how long a price change will last.

So, a good solution is to apply an indicator or a tool that works well with the inside bar. For that matter, you can use support and resistance levels, a Fibonacci retracement tool, MACD, RSI, and MAs. As discussed earlier, as long as the first candle covers the first candle, it is an inside bar pattern. Note how the price continues to trade higher after the appearance of the inside bar pattern and the confirmation of the third candlestick’s formation.

Even though the pattern is known as having a structure with one large bullish or bearish first candle and a second smaller candle, it could have many other chart formations. For example, the inside bar pattern could also be formed with a large first candle and a second tiny Doji candle. Technically, as long as the first candle covers the second candle, then it’s an inside bar pattern.

How do you use an inside bar indicator?

When looking at a candlestick chart, you can spot an inside bar indicator when a given bar's high and low are fully contained by the bar directly preceding it. This signals a narrowing of price action that can be used to predict upcoming movements outside of this range.

His philanthropy, institution-building and public works improved countless lives, though its source lay in unethical means. There were many other merchants who donated their fortunes made through the opium trade, or by other questionable methods, to public institutions. Like, the Sackler family, the sex offenderJeffrey Epstein was a major donor to many university programmes, even after his conviction for sex crimes. After it emerged that the director of the MIT Media Labwas aware of Epstein’s misdeeds and took steps to solicit donations while hiding their source, he resigned.

Invite your employees to participate in the corporate giving planning process. Ask them for suggestions on programs, funds, or charitable events to support, and collect data on employees’ giving activities and interests. When volunteerism is a part of a company’s philanthropy, employee engagement can surge. It is further enhanced by offering paid time off to employees who volunteer to participate in charity events. It is also called VTO, which is short for ‘volunteer time-off.” Businesses all over the world have realized that VTO is a great employee motivation strategy. Many of us already have the best employee rewards and recognition programs in place.

An example of philanthropy is donating canned goods to a food bank to help needy families in your community or donating toys to the Toys for Tots toy drive to provide Christmas presents to needy children. To maintain complete transparency into the programs, use the correct tools and technology. Here comes the use of a FinTech platform (or PhilanTech platform in this case.) It allows you and your team to track where donations go and how they’re spent.

Don’t forget to recognize and reward that employee who makes a difference in your corporate philanthropy efforts. Enabling employees and teams to help the community increases their commitment and makes them feel selflessly supported by the company. The act of donating a portion of one’s profits to society is known as corporate philanthropy. CSR, or Corporate Social Responsibility, on the other hand, is described as fulfilling one’s social responsibility while conducting business. It is carried out ethically and without jeopardizing society’s interests.

Employee loyalty improved by 30% when employers were perceived as transparent by their employees. Invite employees to participate in the planning of the committee. Once an employee has volunteered for a given period; they are paid at a defined rate. However, every employer must ensure that the time-off program is well-defined. That means, to stay on top of it, HR should create a concrete and scalable framework for the time-off program.

Having even a skeletal framework in place allows funders to give better and more as it enables them to focus their philanthropic efforts on what is most important to them, it added. Post-grant qualitative support by grant makers can take different forms such as capacity building, storytelling and communications, advisory and strategy support, fundraising, and partnerships. Even after much debate there is no finite answer, since the balance between the good done by the money and the influence of the undesirable means cannot be measured. Nevertheless, beneficiaries should be aware, to the extent possible, of a breach of ethics by a donor and give serious consideration as to whether it is compatible with their own vision and mission.

These actions are to manage and account for their effect on society appropriately. Private philanthropy has never been bigger than at present (one estimate puts it at around $10.3 billion globally in May 2020), nor perhaps more controversial. One can get both formal and informal relevance of philanthropy, most predominantly religious and secular, spread across India as charitable trusts, foundations, NGOs and corporates, as well as social media platforms. But as we can see, there are various ways to urge your employees to be a part of corporate philanthropy. Remember, as the employer, it all begins with you! You must participate in the drive, be visible, and promote the program to make it a win-win situation for everyone involved. Increase the visibility of your program, celebrate its accomplishments, and see an increase in participation as a result.

Callahan further notes that the colossal fortunes of Mark Zuckerberg and Laurene Powell Jobs are being disbursed not via foundations but through their own limited liability corporations, which are hardly transparent. In India too, many of the large foundations offer no financial information in their annual reports. According to his biographer historian J.R.P. Mody, by 1820, when he was 40, Jejeebhoy had allegedly made more than Rs 2 crore. He was already one of the richest men in the entire country, having concentrated on accumulating wealth in the first half of his life. The next half he devoted to giving it away in philanthropy. Mody calculates that Jejeebhoy would have donated 2,450,00 pounds over the course of his life.

However, according to Mody, it was not pure altruism which motivated him, but a desire to gain status and favours from the rulers. Jeejeebhoy used his philanthropist definition to forge bonds with the British in order to reach his ultimate goal of getting the hereditary title of Baronet, in which he succeeded. First he became a JP, and then the first Indian to be knighted.

It’s a fantastic idea to give back to your community. It improves a company’s brand value and reputation, boosts employee engagement, and promotes a healthy work environment. Nowadays, employees want to feel like they are a part of something bigger. They want to be proud of their company and believe that their work impacts and enriches society. His charitable historical past has “remained largely a mystery,” The New York Times wrote in 2017 after Bezos posted a “request for ideas” for philanthropy on Twitter. In 2018, after making virtually $3.4 billion donations, Buffet was ranked 3rd in the Forbes’ List of Billionaire 2018. On July 27, 2017, Bezos momentarily became the world’s wealthiest individual over Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates when his estimated net price elevated to only over $90 billion. His wealth surpassed $one hundred billion for the first time on November 24, 2017, and he was formally designated the wealthiest particular person on the planet by Forbes on March 6, 2018, with a web worth of $112 billion. Having donated over $21 billion dollars to various causes himself, the CEO and chairman of Berkshire Hathaway has additionally started The Giving Pledge to encourage other rich households into philanthropy. His wealth, in 2017–18 terms, equaled that of 2.7 million Americans.
